Trauma
Trauma can be the result of a single event such as a car accident, sexual assault, shooting, or natural disaster. These incidents create distressing emotional responses that if lasting longer than a month can become more problematic.
Do you struggle with re-experiencing traumatic events? Do you feel you are always on guard or hyper aware of your surroundings or the opposite feeling immobilized, detached, and shut down? Do you find it difficult to feel safe or to trust others? Has someone you cared about hurt you physically, sexually, emotionally, or verbally? Has that left you with complex feelings of confusion, anger, shame, and hurt in your relationship with them? Possibly you still care about this person despite the abuse or maybe you are trying to get out of the situation or set healthy boundaries for yourself and are feeling unsure of how to do that.

Chronic or complex trauma is repeated or prolonged trauma which is common for people who experienced domestic violence, childhood abuse, or living with someone who has severe mental health or addiction issues. When we are in these environments for long periods of time, we live in survival mode and our physiological, emotional, and behavioral responses can be a result of day-to-day survival. Our body has a natural way of protecting ourselves and serves a purpose for survival, which is good. However, when we are no longer in these environments, our body may still be reacting to triggers and our sense of safety and wellbeing feels lost.
We have helped many people explore and understand how these traumatic environments have impacted them as well as gain ways to manage or BECOME FREE from the disabling distress and regain their sense of safety and self.
